A Nationwide Practice Based in St. Louis, Missouri
In 1957, Milton Goldstein and Elmer Price founded a law firm on a handshake and a commitment to professional representation of their clients. Today, lawyers at Goldstein and Price, L.C., still believe the law is a profession and should be practiced that way. Please see a short history of our firm.
For 60 years, from offices overlooking the Mississippi River in St. Louis, we have represented clients creatively and effectively in Missouri, Illinois and across the United States.
Although we began as a maritime specialty firm, we have evolved over the years to accommodate the needs of our diverse client base. For example, many companies initially retained our firm to handle maritime cases, but later asked us to litigate other disputes, too.
Agribusiness firms similarly hired us to represent their barge subsidiaries in maritime claims, but then asked if we would defend employment discrimination cases and represent them in transactions, railroad contracts and regulatory matters as well. We branched out into related areas of practice to meet the needs of clients who were happy with our work. Many of the companies and people we represent have been our clients for decades.
The Practice Areas in Which We Specialize
Rather than try to be all things to all people, our firm provides representation principally in five areas of practice:
We have specialized in admiralty and maritime law throughout the sixty-year history of our firm. Helping businesses, port authorities, institutions and individuals navigate the complex laws that affect maritime commerce is at the core of our practice.
For businesses that grow, process, distill, label, ship, transport and bring to market the world’s harvest, we provide advice and counsel regarding a myriad of legal and regulatory challenges. In our experience, thoughtful advance legal planning often helps avoid more serious problems and expense later.
The nature and extent of insurance coverage is fundamental to many civil disputes and commercial transactions. For decades, we have represented in court and have advised insurance companies, insurance brokers, and policyholders regarding a broad range of insurance coverage issues.
For barge companies, railroads, manufacturers, agribusiness and insurers, the laws that govern environmental protection, hazardous waste, and toxic torts are an ongoing and important concern. We advise our clients about these issues and represent them in court and before regulatory agencies.
We take pride in being available to clients at all times and in keeping them apprised of significant developments in their matters.
